Chavez et al. v. Board of Parole Hearings

Suit against the California Board of Parole Hearings to block regulations that create a new process to review the cases of murderers sentenced to life without parole and other inmates to refer them to the courts for resentencing. The reviews and hearings under these regulations will subject the victims’ families to the very danger of release and need to relive the horror of the crime in opposition to release that the sentence of life without parole promised to prevent. CJLF represents six victims’ families, seven victims assistance organizations, and California’s largest police organization to block these regulations.
